چکیده

Negotiation in a multiagent system is a topic of active interest for enabling the allocation of scarce resources among autonomous agents. A discussion of the research puts in context the contributions to resource allocation from the fields of economics, mathematics, and multiagent systems. We group the criteria based on how they relate to each other as well as their historical context. In addition, we present three new criteria: verifiability, dimensionality, and topology. The category of allocation criteria relates to issues of fairness and envy-freeness with respect to portions allocated to agents. The category of protocol criteria presents issues related to stability, strategy-proofness, and communication costs. The category of criteria for procedures discusses the complexity issues of allocation procedures. The category of criteria for resources discusses the properties that various resources can take and how they affect allocation. Finally we conclude with a discussion of the criteria for agent utility functions. The overall objective of this paper is to create a starting point for protocol engineering for future negotiation designers.

Multi Agent Resource Allocation: a Comparison of Five Negotiation Protocols

This paper describes five systems that exploit negotiation strategies to solve multiagent resource allocation problems. A deep comparison is drawn among them according to different criteria that involve general features of the systems; adherence to widely accepted agent definitions; domain, purpose, and approach; analysis, design and implementation of the negotiation protocol. Considerations on...

Simulation of Negotiation Policies in Distributed Multiagent Resource Allocation

In distributed approaches to multiagent resource allocation, the agents belonging to a society negotiate deals in small groups at a local level, driven only by their own rational interests. We can then observe and study the effects such negotiation has at the societal level, for instance in terms of the economic efficiency of the emerging allocations. Such effects may be studied either using th...

Hybrid negotiation for resource coordination in multiagent systems

In this paper, we present a coordination approach to resource allocation problem in multiagent systems. Agents adaptively coordinate resources among themselves to handle resource shortage crises resulted from events they encounter in dynamic, uncertain, real-time, and noisy environments. The coordination approach is implemented with a hybrid negotiation mechanism. The hybrid negotiation mechani...

Multi-Agent Systems for Resource Allocation

The resource allocation in complex systems needs developing systems as multiagent systems and the negotiation is a usual way to acquire the resources in the needed amounts and at appropriate times. The strategies and tactics depend upon the developed system. The paper analyzes the results in resource allocation and gives an example for distributed computer architecture.

Improving Agent Performance for Multi-Resource Negotiation Using Learning Automata and Case-Based Reasoning

In electronic commerce markets, agents often should acquire multiple resources to fulfil a high-level task. In order to attain such resources they need to compete with each other. In multi-agent environments, in which competition is involved, negotiation would be an interaction between agents in order to reach an agreement on resource allocation and to be coordinated with each other. In recent ...
